This is a study of photojournalism in the news media during a Norwegian election campaign. What role do the pictures play and what place does this visual information have in political journalism? The analysis is based on still photographs in the print media, moving images in television news broadcasts and interviews with photojournalists. The news media picture politicians, rather than political issues or people affected by political resolution, and the reporting of politics is supposed to create a sense of intimacy, inform us about the character of politicians and appeal to our emotions.
