The purpose of this research is to find out if and then to what extent effects of the cultivation theory can be found among Icelandic teenagers. The goal was to establish whether the reality portrayed on television was able to impact or even supersede an individual’s view of his own reality. The effects should be, according to the cultivation theory, that the individual’s views have greater resemblance to the reality put forth on television than to the reality that other individuals in the same culture see.
